designers duties towards its customers.
This article does not discuss:
design ethic,
of their creative rights,
not allude to the famous Manifesto "The First Things First" from 1964 or his 2000 review,
talked about logical rights, not made, human, respect, communication and trade relations between customer and supplier. The lack of corporatism, freelance independence, freedom of self are often the reason for the abuse of some customers.
By not dogmatic and in an open letter I will discuss some rights that I believe we must stand with our clients:
1 .- Right to request time designer:
The budgets are always required meeting a deadline for completion of the project but we are also subject to receipt of content. It is customary for such content, approvals do not meet the deadline, the client delays execution of the design and the designers are continually adjusted the agenda. Often these adjustments and constant delays should be considered as breach of contract.
designer If you are behind 2 months in delivering a project the client can penalize you, instead it should indemnizarte. We may amend the budget if the client does not meet the delivery of content.
2 .- Law of the designer to limit the number of reviews
When we approach a project the client we agree to review the work throughout the process. These reviews should be addressed in a formal document. If this review differs from the initial briefing and forces us to change the work we deny or modify the budget. This would equate to a shift in focus beyond our work, the client must assume that change in strategy. It is also important to establish a priori a calendar and finite number of revisions. I stress, finite. 3 .-
designer law to charge a deposit:
work a design project is continued, we must deal with payments for the achievement of work. Once we reached an agreement to establish a percentage of improvement over the subsequent bill. 4 .-
designer law to charge interest if payment is delayed:
Unless we have agreed otherwise, it is understood that customers will pay us to deliver the work, we can specify in the contract or budget. We have the right to charge interest where the payment is delayed.
5 .- Right designer to establish a schedule:
Any professional has hours that should indicate to the customer. Outside these hours the client should not expect or require you to communicate in any way. If you want to work outside these hours or 24 / 7 should collect it.
Designer 6 .- Right to Privacy:
Mobility has its price today, you are reachable at any time and place. There should be a channel of communication and appropriate time. If for any reason the customer is your personal phone number and make use of it is invading your privacy.
Designer 7 .- Right to Claim:
If your client decides for any reason to abandon the project for which you've been hired to seek compensation depending on how much work you performed.
Designer 8 .- Right to refuse to go to a meeting:
meetings with clients are also a time to be unpaid. Should be established in the contract the number and duration of them, time and place. If you think the customer is one that believes that your time is valuable only adds to the budget meeting concept, almost sure you save money you put more than one trip in vain. Communication can be done today in a thousand ways before a staff meeting, from telephone, videoconference, mail, etc.
9 .- The right to subsistence and travel:
If we need to work shifts must include that concept.
10 .- Right to sick:
For high priority to have a project in a hurry to have the client, because it is not easy work from home Internet, no matter how hard we must defend our right to be sick like any other professional.
If you fulfill your duties as a designer is sure to hurt is not met some of these rights. The best way to defend these rights is included in the budget, contract early work. And as a good designer does not put it in "small print" using a clear typeface, we do not want to cheat, we just want to work in appropriate conditions. The customer also will benefit. Leave
rights in the comments that throw in lack or with which you disagree, it's your right
